31% increase in exports of hand-woven Persian carpets in 8 months
The export value of hand-woven Persian rugs with a growth of 31% has reached $ 270 million during eight months during the current calendar year compared to the same date last year, said an Iranian official.
An official from the National Carpet Center of Iran, Mohammad Farchchi, announced a 31 percent growth in the value of exports of hand-woven Persian rugs over the course of eight months during the current calendar year (started March 21) by report at the same date last year.

The main buyers of hand-woven Persian carpets include 29 countries including 13 Asian, 11 European, 4 American and one African.

Hand-woven Persian carpets were exported to 78 countries during the past calendar year and the bulk of exports, estimated at $ 140 million, were purchased by Asian countries, he said.

The increase in exports of hand-woven Persian rugs indicates the country's development in the expansion of commercial relations on the international scene which also represents the implementation of the resistance economy, said the Iranian official.

Since the implementation of the Joint Global Action Plan (GAPA), the Iranian carpet as a household economic base has regained its growing value in world markets.

The Persian rug is an essential element and one of the most distinguished manifestations of Persian culture and art, whose origins date back to the Bronze Age.
